Payton is a native New Yorker who began his career 20 years ago after graduating from the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis. For the past 15 years, Payton has worked as a session stylist and has been a strong presence in Fashion Week doing both hair and makeup, in addition to working with celebrities (such as Oprah) and on television and film projects. His work has been featured in such editorials as Harper’s Bazaar, Elle,L'Officiel, Vulkan, Selin Magazine, Avant Magazine, Oyster Magazine, and Flaunt Magazine, and many other publications, and he has also been featured in Modern Salon Magazine online as a leader in the industry.
Throughout his career, Payton has specialized in both cutting and coloring (Aveda and Wella), which required extensive training. Payton strongly believes in continuing education and is always interested in ways to further his artistic techniques and stay modern and current. Most recently Payton attended LBP’s Front Row, What’s Next Awards, and Wella Trend Vision. Payton is also an Oribe Ambassador, though he is well versed in many product lines, including Davines and R+Co, and he always provides exceptional education to his guests on proper product usage and selection.
Payton is so happy to have found a home at Bloom’s upscale, yet cozy and rustic environment. Though Payton is still very inspired and engaged by editorial projects, his true love in the hair industry is making guests feel and look beautiful, and Bloom is the perfect complement to his passion.
