Boardwalk Empire

Paula, our curly hair guru, got to create a different kind of curl last Wednesday, for an after party of the premiere of Boardwalk Empire. Her good friend Robert D’Alessandro, of Invision Events, was the visionary of the party, hosted at Rockefeller Center. He designed a Roaring 20’s atmosphere to go along with the theme of HBO’s newest show.

Paula used finger waving and pin curls to give authenticity to the flapper who strolled the party passing out red carnations and saltwater taffy. Here, she (and Paula’s amazing handy work), was captured handing one to actor Joe Manganiello (of True Blood) and Audra Marie.

Finger waves were first made popular in the 1920’s to soften the hard appearance of the bobbed hairstyle but still look fabulous today! Many celebrities still sport this retro style to add a touch of glamour to the red carpet.

With pumpkins popping up and Halloween just around the corner, it may also be the perfect finishing touch for that costume party. Now you know where to go!

Just something to think about… 🙂

  1. SN, me says:

Just wanted to help by telling you Wednesday should begin with a capital letter and it is spelled, Rockefeller Center.

The flapper’s hair looks lovely! Beautiful!
